Soluble Etching Inks
Etching
- When the plate has been engraved, it is dabbed all over with printing
ink and then rubbed off with muslin or the palm of the hand, leaving the
ink in the engraved furrows. For an etching the plate is covered with a
resinous ground, impervious to acid, and the etcher draws on the ground
with a needle, exposing the copper wherever the artist wants the line to
print. All
inks contain drier.
